We're Entering the Competitions Space — Apply Now for Mooting Officer

So, competitions...


We have some exciting news to share. Te Piringa Student Events Association is officially entering the competitions space in 2026 — and we need two passionate, driven students to help make it happen.

This is a significant milestone for our association. For the first time, Te Piringa will be delivering a dedicated mooting programme, giving Waikato law students the chance to sharpen their advocacy skills in a structured, professionally supported environment.


About the Role


We are looking for two Competitions Officers to join our 2026 Executive Committee. You will be building our mooting programme from the ground up — a rare opportunity to leave a lasting impact on the student experience at Te Piringa — Faculty of Law.


Key Responsibilities


  • Design and coordinate the mooting competition, including drafting moot problems, scheduling rounds, and managing venues.

  • Recruit and liaise with legal professionals, academics, and senior students to serve as judges.

  • Manage participant registration, briefing materials, and competitor communications.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Sponsorship teams to promote the competition and secure prizes.

  • Develop post-event reports and feedback processes to improve future mooting rounds.


What We're Looking For


  • Currently enrolled in an LLB or LLB(Hons) programme at Te Piringa — Faculty of Law.

  • Prior participation in mooting competitions is highly preferred.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for professional outreach to the legal community.

  • Ability to commit to the full 2026 academic year as part of the Executive Committee.
